The SensUs Organization is working hard towards the Christmas holidays! Due to the pandemic the very first Kick-off Event of the SensUs Competition will be held a little differently than planned, but it will definitely be as great and fun! The panel talk during the last event week was a huge success. Our professional panel talk speakers told us all about their hurdles they had to overcome in their career paths and how they tackled the challenging situations. Read all about it in this article.

Check this out! Wevolver wrote an awesome article about the SensUs Event of 2021! They wrote about the the top five biosensors for rapid detection of influenza. The SensUs Student Competition wouldn’t be complete without our very own Jury. The Jury looks at every biosensor, reads all the Team Result Documents, and assesses them on certain criteria. The jury of this year consists of 28 experts in the field of medical technologies. The Teams have the possibility to win two jury-based awards: the Creativity and Translation Potential award. Today we introduce you to the chair of the Translation Potential award: dr. Marko Blom!

After a successful 2020 edition, the Professional Workshop will continue!

This Workshop organized by SensUs will focus on the development and innovation of sensors for influenza. There will be talks by three experts: 

• Sampling methodologies - dr. Bart van Meerbergen
• Testing technologies - dr. David Bunka
• How interpretation is affected by context - dr. Adam Meijer

Richard Kormelink, a virologist specialized in plant viruses from Wageningen University and Research. Richard will tell more about the shared features of fundamental processes of plant-and human viruses.

The SensUs Event is getting closer and closer and the SensUs Organization is working hard to organize the hybrid Event.The plan is to have hybrid Innovation Days, for the first time in SensUs history! The days will be organized on-campus at TU/e campus while respecting the Corona measures. For the Teams that are not able to visit Eindhoven, Microsoft Teams will be used as the online platform.

Dr. Anja Schreijer, part of the Outbreak Management Team and Head of Infectious Disease Control at the GGD in Amsterdam has given us a very interesting and exceptional lecture about virus outbreaks.
