Dutch Technology Week 2017

From May 15 till May 20 the Dutch Technology Week took place in Eindhoven and its surroundings. During this week the latest innovations in the field of technology are being shown in different ways. SensUs had the special opportunity to be present at four occasions.

Technology connects and so do the visitors of the Dutch Technology week. It all started at monday morning where topics related to technology were discussed. We had the honor to pitch our technological dream for the future; biosensors for countless different diseases that are easily available, simple to use and not too expensive. Next to ours, other inspiring pitches and talks were held that gave the public insight in the importance of connections and of course, technology. At eleven o'clock the mayor of Eindhoven officially opened the Dutch Technology Week.

On Tuesday evening the winner of the Slimmer Leven Challenge was chosen. Five teams of students presented a new solution for healthcare, all in the theme of Heart Failure. To set an example of research on this topic the participating team from Eindhoven, team T.E.S.T, pitched their idea to the public.

On Thursday, we visited the Quiz Night XL. This extraordinary event was held at Klokgebouw, Strijp-S in Eindhoven. Quiz Night XL offers guests a great evening of quizzing and entertainment. The quiz covers many topics regarding science and technology, fully supported by visuals and videos. SensUs also had the honor to come up with a question in the field of biosensing for all 1200 visitors. It was a very inspiring and entertaining evening for the organization.

The last event at which SensUs members were present was the Open Day at the Philips Healthcare campus in Best. This day provided visitors a unique opportunity to have a look behind the scenes at Philips' medical high tech innovations and technologies.
SensUs was present along a children's route mapped out by the Dutch Heart Foundation. At our stand, the children had the opportunity to make their own biosensor! With the help of lacquer paper their biosensors were able to detect the acidity of different liquids.

It was a beautiful day with a lot of curious children and parents who had their first acquaintance with the SensUs competition.

All in all, the Dutch Technology Week was a vibrant week and we are glad that SensUs got the chance to be part of it!
