This year’s theme: Managing rheumatic disease, by measuring with ease is particularly interesting as DEMCON already is active in the field of rheumatology. Our HandScan is the first optical imaging device that supports the rheumatologist in objective monitoring of rheumatoid arthritis inflammation. The patented technology uses optical imaging hemodynamic changes to visualize joint inflammation.

The images the scanner produces display joint inflammation in the patient's hands and wrists. The device is non-invasive, easy to work with and safe. Furthermore, it reduces the costly time burden on the rheumatologist as nonmedical staff can work with the scanner as well. More information can be found here.
